Our strong foundation in the principles of design, our experiences working with a wide range of clients, and our insights from the latest cartographic research and usability testing allows us to build custom mapping products of the highest quality.

David Heyman is a founder of Axis Maps. He has a BA from Middlebury College and worked as a GIS analyst for cities from rural Vermont to New York City before coming to Madison where he earned his MS at the University of Wisconsin in Cartography. Although a trained cartographer, he now spends his time running the day-to-day operations of Axis Maps, from strategic planning to managing individual projects, working with clients to coordinate Axis Maps' work.

Ben is a founder of Axis Maps. With a PhD and MS from the University of Wisconsin, and a BS from Wheaton College, Ben is an award-winning designer and is the creative mind behind the graphic identity of many of our projects. Ben has made significant contributions in the mapping sciences shaping how we think about everything from the history of cartography to 3D immersive maps. Ben seamlessly bridges the academic and professional world to create elegant and intuitive maps and user interfaces.

With a BA from Ohio Wesleyan and an MS in Cartography from the University of Wisconsin, Andy was a driving force behind many projects at the UW Cartography Lab and continues to work to translate great ideas into code. Besides development, he frequently undertakes mapping projects exploring themes of life and geography in the Boston area and promotes cartography through the blogosphere, social media, and presentations at venues ranging from major universities to small businesses.
